Welcome and thank you for visiting Art of Teaching!  My name is Heather Payden-Williams, Founder and Director of Art of Teaching.  I would like to share with you my vision of continuing education for massage therapists.  AOT is dedicated to providing quality, affordable workshops that will renew your interest in massage.  We want you to enjoy your learning environment while also gaining new skills, or bringing to light some you have forgotten.  We provide a noncompetitive atmosphere and promise to share everything we know to help you enhance your massage practice.  AOT believes we all represent the massage community and we at AOT want all massage therapists to shine!

 I began my massage career in 2001 after graduating from Headlines Academy of Massage in Rapid City SD.  From there, I journeyed with those recovering from illness and injury working at a rehabilitation facility.  My mentors included physicians and physical therapists and from them I learned how the body heals with massage.  As a team, we helped these bodies and minds mend and become whole again.  Deep tissue massage was my primary source of treatment and that is just one of the workshops I will guide you through. 

After a few years, I moved on to establish my very own business, Art of Massage where I tested my new found freedom as a business woman.  Phew!  Not as easy as it looks!  Hard work and some additional massage modalities, such as Hot Stone (another workshop I teach) enhanced not onlty my skills but also my practice.  I was now able to relax, de-stress and help my clients recover.  But that was not enough and I have continued to achieve my Reiki staus to level 3 in 2008.  Along this wonderful path of discovery, I learned about essential oils and I believe I am able to provide clients with a truly enjoyable experience.

I was so passionate about my belief in massage therapy, I wanted to share my enthusiam with everyone.  From this, Art of Teaching was born.

I have since graduated from Chadron State College in Chadron, NE with a BA in Psychology.  I believe mind and bodywork together as one and without a healthy mind there cannot be a healthy body.

I am very happy you have decided to visit us and encourage you to look at everything AOT has to offer.  The AOT vision is what I want in a school as a student and hope that you will be here to grow with us.
